For the inaugural Glass Pineapple blog
we’ve decided to go with a centuries old fabric that’s making serious comeback
for autumn this year. Brocade put
in an appearance on numerous A/W 2012-13 catwalks, from Erdem to Balmain,
Stella McCartney to Jonathan Saunders, being stitched into circle skirts,
cropped trousers, pencil skirts, bodycon dresses and clutches.
Stick a pin in a list of top designers or
high street stores this season and you will find a brocade piece somewhere in
their latest offerings – either forming the fabric for the entire piece or as a
detail or trim. You can use
brocade to bring some glamour that works both day and night – add a tailored
brocade jacket to a pair of jeans for a tougher way to wear this feminine fabric,
pick some metallic brocade courts to liven up your office outfit, go for a shimmering
brocade skirt and a soft cashmere jumper to nail the luxe look, or go all out
in head to toe brocade in a trophy trouser suit. If you’re looking to join the brocade brigade, here are our
